From a young age, Anthony experienced the harsh reality of crime when his mother fell victim to a traumatic armed robbery, an event that shaped his perception of the criminal justice system.

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Anthony grew up in a hardworking family. His father, a union worker at the local power and light company, instilled in him the values of diligence and fairness, while his mother worked as a hair stylist, fostering his appreciation for personal connections and empathy.

During Anthony’s academic journey, he pursued his passion for track and attended Ball State University, where he ran Division 1 Track in the 400-meter sprint and graduated with a major in Economics. Anthony was also awarded Democratic Intern of the Year in 1998 serving at the Indiana Statehouse.

The turning point in Anthony’s career occurred while studying law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Driven by his vivid memories of his mother’s robbery, he became captivated by criminal law and sought to find ways to improve the criminal justice system.

Anthony's journey in criminal law has been diverse and extensive.

He served as a small-town prosecutor for the City of Dublin from 2000 to 2005, where he gained valuable experience handling a wide range of cases.

Later, he assumed the role of a major metropolitan county prosecutor serving two stints in the Franklin County Prosecutors Office for a total of 10 years of service, allowing him to develop a deep understanding of the challenges faced in larger urban areas.

Anthony’s commitment to justice led him to be recruited and hired as Chief of Staff and Chief Legal Counsel for Ohio’s Juvenile Prison System under Governor Ted Strickland where he served from 2010 to 2013. There, he worked tirelessly to reform the system and ensure fair treatment for young offenders.

Additionally, Anthony served as a Principal Assistant Attorney General from 2019 to 2023, prosecuting crimes throughout Ohio.
